The leaderboard is optional and is for adults aged 18 or older. You can use the other MySteps features without a leaderboard account. Sign in with Apple creates an account. Joining requires a separate choice to share your profile and steps.
When you join, we process your chosen profile name, a reduced avatar image if you add one, optional country, daily step totals, rank, join time and sharing choices. Other signed-in members can see your shared name, avatar, country, totals and rank. Your later profile edits also update your shared profile after content checks. You can use a nickname.
Vercel runs our leaderboard service. Neon stores its account and leaderboard records. We also store the identifiers and security records needed to manage sign-in, step updates, reports, blocking and account deletion. We receive an app-specific Apple account identifier and tokens; we do not receive your Apple password. The leaderboard sign-in does not request your email or Apple profile name.
Steps count from midnight on the day you join, in your local time zone, and use local calendar dates. The service receives daily totals and the time zone needed to assign dates. It does not receive your full Health record, walking routes or original Health samples. If you use location to suggest a country, only the country you save goes to the leaderboard service, not your coordinates.
We check proposed public names with TypeSafe AI's Jev model through Vercel AI Gateway. We send the proposed name and the rules needed to classify it. We do not include your step totals, photo or account identifier in that request. We request a provider route with zero data retention.
We send a reduced profile image to Sightengine to check for unsuitable content before publication. We remove image metadata and do not send the original photo. We do not include your name, step totals or account identifier in that image request. Sightengine processes data under its service terms. Its standard service can process requests in the United States, Canada or the European Union.
Automated checks can make mistakes. You can report content, block a member, or contact support@mswdigital.com about a rejected profile or moderation decision. We store moderation results and the limited records needed to review reports and prevent repeat abuse. A rejected image is not published and is not stored in our photo-review table; that table stores its fingerprint and decision.
Signing out hides your leaderboard profile and stops new step updates. Your totals remain so you can return later. From the account controls, you can export your community data or delete your community account. Deletion removes the account's profile and totals from the active service. It does not delete your private MySteps profile, Apple Health records or MySteps Pro purchase. Apple token revocation can continue as a background retry after account removal.
Daily step records older than 13 months are combined into monthly totals for All Time. Account-linked moderation decisions are retained with the account and removed on account deletion. Limited security, deletion-confirmation and recovery records remain for their scheduled retention periods. Backups and service-provider records can remain under their separate retention rules. We do not use leaderboard Health information for advertising or sell it.
